Born To Be The First: The New Yamaha XSR900 Abarth Edition.

Evolution and creation, both are different. It happens in the automotive world as well. Sometimes the years of R&D may results in creating a masterpiece and in other case years of evolution may create the same output. Talking about the new Yamaha XSR900 Abarth, is a genius creation from Yamaha in collaboration with the ace car performance company Abarth. As the makers say, “Born to be the First” it is the first product from the joint force of Yamaha and Abarth as an exclusive 'Faster Sons' edition.



The XSR 900 comes under the sport heritage clan of Yamaha motorcycles. In order to give the Abarth touch, a carbon nose cowling and rear seat cowling has used. Both the cowlings are made of light weight carbon material and used to change the outlook of this motorcycle from the very first glance. Cafe racer kind of low-slung handle bar, along with classic round headlamp and unpainted light weight carbon cowl gives a true cafe racer style to the motorcycle. The clip-on-style swallow handlebars will gives a sport riding position and enhanced degree of controllability.





Other Abarth styling consists of light-weight aluminium covers for the 14-litre fuel tank finished with Nimbus grey colour scheme along with Yamaha and Abarth badging. Moreover, sports solo suede seat with rear carbon cowl, aluminium plaque with limited edition tag and the model number and compact circular LED rear lights are the cosmetic additions for this motorcycle. The exhaust system of XSR Abarth version is full titanium Akropovic kit. It is specially designed 3 into 1 system with titanium headers and double titanium slip on mufflers, which reduces the weight as well as enhances the performance and also symphony for the ears.



The Abarth edition is powered by the same 847cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, in-line 3 cylinder engine with 4-valves. The mill produces 115 PS of power @ 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 87.5 Nm @ 8500 rpm. These figures are identical to the original XSR 900 version. Engine is then mated with a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox for transmitting the power to rear wheels using a chain drive. The engine satisfies all the latest pollution norms with Euro 4 compliant.



Yamaha is only manufacturing 695 units of Abarth version for the entire global market. One thing for sure that, this unique Yamaha had already adored many hearts and it doesn't have any straight competitors in this segment.
