2014 Honda Valkyrie - First Look & Review

Another mammoth cruiser from Honda.

Honda is once gain into the mass touring class. This time the world class firm, Honda, has come up with a biggy, the Valkyrie. It was in 1996, the first generation Valkyrie was born. As the firm reintroducing the bike once again, the Valkyrie shades not at all the past. It has been moulded to be a next gen cruiser in all formats. But, there is something valuable taken from the past, and that's it heritage and reputation.



The bike looks extremely gorgeous and like ready to cruise all the way. It never looks minimalistic with the body panels. Still, the machine doesn't carry anything unnecessary for a cruiser. A uniquely designed headlight, sportingly crafted kits which never kill the standard looks of a cruiser motorcycle, name sake chrome finished exhausts and rear view mirrors, blacked alloy wheels, darkened engine guards make the motorcycle stood firm among the other machines in the class.

The Valkyrie is powered by a massive 1832cc liquid-cooled Flat Six engine. It's coupled with a 5 speed transmission. Unfortunately, Honda hasn't revealed the power and torque of the Valkyrie. Still, a respectable mid-range and top-end performance are expected from the machine. While, SOHC; two valves cylinder head Fueling: PGM-FI and Computer-controlled digital with 3-D mapping ignition ensure smooth ride and better fuel efficiency.

The bike is coupled with a good number of fetaures. Because, you can't miss any feature here. It's built for long trips. You have to ride it in day and night. It might not be the same track always. Sometimes, you need to face the toughest situation while riding. And to survive such circumstances, you need to run a motorcycle that is preloaded with tons of features. Moreover, it's not an entry level machine, but the top-end from Honda. And you all know how bigger the firm is.

It features LED headlight, taillight, turn signals, multi-functional digital LCD instrumentation, removable passenger seat with grab rail, blacked out frame and engine, big shrouds covering the side-mounted radiators, chrome finished exhaust and Anti-Lock Braking System.

The motorcycle is moulded out on a twin-spar aluminum frame, which is rigid and makes the machine stable even in high speeds. You have the best comfy level here. Mated with a 45mm cartridge fork with anti-dive system, 4.8 inches travel at front and a Pro Arm single-side swingarm with Pro-Link single shock with computer-controlled spring preload adjustment with two memory presets, 4.1 inches travel rear suspension, long rides become your best buddy.

Need not to worry about the braking either. To stop the motorcycle, Honda has arranged Dual full-floating 310mm discs four-piston calipers with optional ABS at front and Single ventilated 316mm disc with optional ABS at rear. While the 10-spoke aluminum wheels coupled with 130/60R-19 tire at front and 180/55R-17 at rear ensure better grips on all surfaces.

The Valkyrie carries a 6.1 gallons gas tank and weighs 750 lbs.

The machine comes in 3 colors- Black, Dark Red Metallic, and Blue Metallic.

The Valkyrie is priced at $17,000 with a three-year, unlimited mileage fender-to-fender warranty.
